The objective to apply static correction is to compensate for various effects on the data especially the land data set that might encountered the following situations:

(a) near surface

(b) variation in elevations

(c) weathering and reference to a datum.

This steps determine the reflection time assuming the existence of a flat surface plane without weathering layer. Two types of static correction which are elevation and residual static corrections.
